The Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Gerald White, the father of 39 year old Douglas White of Platteville Saturday around 11:45pm. Gerald White informed dispatchers that his son, Douglas was intoxicated and jumped out of his vehicle along Highway 61 in North Lancaster Township. Officers from the Fennimore Police Department and a Grant County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the scene. Gerald White informed the officers that his son was walking south along Highway 61. Officers also learned from Gerald White that Douglas White punched the inside of Gerald’s vehicle and had made a comment of breaking the window out while Gerald White was driving. Gerald White was able to stop his vehicle before Douglas White jumped from it. Officers located Douglas White who was walking south along Highway 61 and asked to speak with him. Douglas White gave the officers the middle finger and swore at them. Douglas White would not cooperate with the officers and was eventually tased. Douglas White was evaluated by EMS at the scene before he was taken to the Grant County Jail. Douglas White was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Resisting a peace officer. He posted bond the following day and was released. Fennimore Police and Lancaster EMS assisted with this incident. This matter will be referred to the Grant County District Attorney’s Office.
