On July 10th, the Boscobel Police Department was sent to a local business for a report of an intoxicated man who was laying in the parking lot. Upon arrival, officers located the man face down in the parking lot, not wearing any pants or shorts. Officers requested the assistance of Boscobel EMS to evaluate the man, identified as 26 year old Samuel Phillips of Leon, Iowa. Officers located Phillip’s shorts, and inside the pockets they discovered a glass smoking device with a white crystalline residue, and an unlabeled prescription bottle with approximately 200 pills. The residue in the glass smoking device was field tested positive for methamphetamine. The bottle containing approximately 200 pills was found to contain various narcotics and barbiturates. After receiving medical clearance, Phillips was taken to the Grant County Jail where he was booked in on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Narcotic Drugs, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. A subsequent investigation was conducted at a local hotel where Phillips had reserved a room and intended to spend the night. That investigation revealed that he was in possession of many additional drugs, including Fentanyl, Marijuana, Crack Cocaine, Methamphetamine, and Oxycodone. As a result of this investigation, the Boscobel Police Department has referred additional charges to the office of the Grant County District Attorney, to include the possession of Fentanyl, Crack Cocaine, Marijuana, and Drug Possession w/ Intent to Deliver.
