State charges of attempted murder against a Delaware County man have been dismissed as a related federal case continues. 38-year-old Christopher Wuchter of Earlville, was charged in Iowa District Court of Delaware County with attempted murder, child endangerment, assault by use or display of a dangerous weapon and assault causing bodily injury and had a trial date set for Jan. 31. Delaware County Attorney John Bernau recently moved to have the charges dismissed, however, “due to the defendant’s current federal prosecution of two counts of unlawful transport of firearms and two counts of failure to comply with the firearm registry in relation to his alleged possession of dozens of firearms. Federal court documents state Wuchter is ineligible to carry weapons due to his history of illegal drug use. His federal court date is Jan. 22.
