The Cassville Fire Department responded Sunday Afternoon to a distress call on the Mississippi River. Fire Chief Ron Hampton said they were notified about 1:45 pm for a boater with three people on board reporting the motor had stopped working. The boater was able to use a trolling motor to get themselves into some trees to wait to be rescued. The Cassville Fire Department Rescue Boat towed them to Cassville. Chief Hampton indicated it took a while to tow their boat due to 30 plus miles per hour winds and the high river level. The three people live in the area and reported no injuries.
