A woman accused of poisoning her husband in 2022, sending him into a coma, has pleaded no contest to lesser charges in the case. 51-year-old Amanda Chapin, formerly of Monroe was charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide. During a plea hearing Friday, she pleaded no contest and was found guilty of first-degree recklessly endangering safety. Chapin was charged after her then-husband Gary Chapin was taken to a hospital and later fell into a coma in August 2022. Bloodwork showed he had barbiturates from his veterinary practice in his system. After waking from his coma, Gary reportedly told detectives that Amanda poisoned his morning coffee three times, once in July 2022 and twice in August 2022. Amanda Chapin is scheduled to be sentenced on July 25.
