Police say four people were injured this week in a car crash near the Julien Dubuque Bridge. 78-year-old David Sherman, 35-year-old Mary Betwell, 13-year-old Terrina Betwell, and 13-year-old Arina Betwell, all of Dubuque, reported pain or minor injuries after the crash and were transported by ambulance to MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center. The incident occurred around 4:54 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of U.S. 20 and Locust Street. Terrina and Arina Betwell were passengers in Mary Betwell’s vehicle. The report states Sherman was traveling westbound on U.S. 20 after crossing the Julien Dubuque Bridge when he veered to the right for an “unknown reason,” crossed a concrete median and struck Mary Betwell’s vehicle as it sat in southbound traffic on Locust Street. Sherman was cited with failure to maintain control.
