Authorities said farmers used field equipment to halt a fire in Dubuque County. A group of hay bales caught fire at approximately 3:30 p.m. Sunday on N. Cascade Road. According to Dubuque County Sheriff Joe Kennedy winds pushed the fire across the road into an adjacent field, where area farmers used field equipment to till the area to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby standing corn. Kennedy said no damage estimate was listed in the report.
