A Dubuque man has been arrested after police said they found large quantities of fentanyl and other drugs in his home. 27-year-old Friday Gardner was arrested at his residence on Washington Street at 9:43 a.m. Thursday on charges of control of a firearm by a felon and four counts of a controlled substance violation. Court documents state the Dubuque Drug Task Force conducted “multiple” undercover purchases of fentanyl pills from Gardner using a confidential informant over the past two weeks. After obtaining a search warrant officers made contact with Gardner. He dropped a plastic bag of marijuana and was found to be in possession of alprazolam pills and $1,381 in cash — some of which matched pre-serialized buy money used by the task force to make the fentanyl purchases. Inside the home, documents state investigators found “two plastic bags containing 295 full fentanyl pills and several partial fentanyl pills.” They also reportedly located 36 ecstasy pills, 16 additional alprazolam pills, 68 grams of marijuana and a loaded firearm.
