An influential business leader soon will leave his post as head of a Dubuque casino. DRA and Q Casino + Resort President and CEO Alex Dixon announced his resignation today at the monthly board meeting for the DRA, the nonprofit license holder for Dubuque’s two casinos. His last day is slated for Jan. 15. Dixon took the reins of Q Casino in 2021. In the three years since, he has been a prominent and outspoken advocate for the nonprofit gaming facility and its ongoing $83 million renovation. A press release states that the ongoing improvements to Q Casino + Resort and the surrounding Chaplain Schmitt Island will continue as scheduled despite Dixon’s planned departure. No timeline was immediately available on the search for Dixon’s replacement. The release states that current Q Casino Chief Financial Officer Brian Rakestraw will assume the CEO position on an interim basis after Dixon’s departure until a successor is selected.
