The Dubuque City Council signed off on a burst of housing rehab projects in the downtown area on Monday, using both property tax rollbacks and direct grant dollars. Collectively, the four projects approved Monday will get an estimated $662,000 in public assistance for 11 restored housing units. The City Council has budgeted $850,000 annually into targeted housing incentives for the greater downtown core, but since the start of fiscal year 2024 in July 2023, the city has actually allocated $1.9 million in subsidies.
