Ty Myers released his 16-song debut album, The Select, on Friday (January 24) via RECORDS Nashville/Columbia Records. The 17-year-old rising country singer comes from a musical family, with his songwriter father playing regularly in the local venues in their hometown of Austin, Texas, while Myers’s grandmother played piano in church. “My earliest memory is sitting at a bar top at four years old,” Myers says of his musical upbringing. “I was always just locked in on music.” At the age of eight, Myers was writing his own songs, and by 11, he was performing live with his father. “We would do songwriter swaps at local places, just trying to get my foot in the door a bit,” Myers recalls. Ty worked with producer Tommy Detamore and Brandon Hood on The Select, which the young musician says “is a real culmination of all of my influences. I blended everything that I love into one, hopefully unique, sound.” (Billboard)
