Significant roadwork is coming to rural Grant and Lafayette counties, with several area roads among recently announced funds from Wisconsin’s Agricultural Roads Improvement Program. The program, funded in the current biennial budget, awarded $150 million statewide to upgrade rural roads that provide access to agricultural land or facilities and meet Wisconsin Department of Transportation criteria. The state covers about 88% of project costs. The first round of funding, announced last summer, included $207,000 to repave Gravel Run Road in Fayette Township in Lafayette County. The second and final round of funding, announced last week, features several roads in southwest Wisconsin. Lafayette County was awarded nearly $2 million for improvements to Lafayette County D. Three townships in Grant County were also given funding: Harrison Township was awarded about $3.8 million to improve Stanton Road. Jamestown Township was awarded about $1.4 million for Louisburg Road. Beetown Township was awarded about $1.3 million for Dodge Road. A timeline for construction is not yet finalized.
