City officials in Platteville are taking steps to provide the public with more information on a potential new pool ahead of an April vote. Common Council members this week voted to enter into a contract with JEO Consulting Group for phase one schematics of an aquatic center, at an anticipated cost of $20,000. A nonbinding referendum on the April 1 ballot will ask voters whether the city should borrow up to $6.9 million to construct an aquatic center. The facility would replace the previous one at Platteville Family Aquatic Center, which in May 2024 experienced “catastrophic cracking” in its walls while being filled ahead of its summer opening and remained closed.
