Gov. Tony Evers is proposing a $4.1 billion investment in Wisconsin’s infrastructure as part of his 2025-27 Capital Budget. This recommendation aims to modernize facilities and support major projects across 26 counties. The proposed investments announced on Monday are expected to stimulate the economy by creating approximately $7.3 billion in economic activity and supporting nearly 37,200 jobs. According to the Associated General Contractors of Wisconsin, every $1 spent on construction generates $1.76 in economic activity. Evers’ budget focuses on modernizing public spaces, elevating higher education facilities and improving safety. It represents one of the largest investments in state infrastructure to date, with significant funds allocated for future planning. Evers said due to delays from the Republican-led Legislature, Wisconsin faces a $13 billion deferred maintenance backlog. The State Building Commission, chaired by Evers, will meet on March 25, 2025, to vote on the recommendations. The commission’s decisions will be considered with the governor’s Executive Budget by the Joint Committee on Finance.
