The Fyre Festival, founded by convicted fraudster Billy McFarland, will now become a music streaming service. Shawn Rech, who co-founded the TruBlue streaming service with former To Catch A Predator host Chris Hansen, has acquired some of the event’s IP and trademarks, planning to launch the platform focused on music discovery. The user-submitted service will include a subscription video-on-demand platform and FAST networks featuring pop and hip-hop music. The launch date is set for Thanksgiving and McFarland will have a presence on the network, which is designed to engage fans in curating content. (Deadline)
