UW-Platteville National Soils Contest
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Collegiate Soils Team placed 4th in the recent National Contest hosted by North Carolina State. This was the largest National Soils Contest in its 64 year history with more than 300 students representing 28 universities. The UW-Platteville Soils Team totaled 2702 points, just 3 points behind third place Maryland. Sophomore Jake Scheckel of Dodgeville placed 6th in the individual portion of the contest. By placing among the top eight individuals, Scheckel will be representing the United States at the World Soil Judging Championship to be held this June in China.. He is the fourth UW-Platteville student in the last 12 years to qualify for the World Competition.
