The Dubuque City Council voted unanimously to approve the rezoning of the Applewood I apartments on Pennsylvania Avenue from senior housing to general multi-family residential. The new agreement will allow property managers to raise the rents to market rate and allow for tenants of all ages in one building in the complex: Applewood I, will be rebranded to Applegate I and will require a larger parking lot. Applegate can begin renting units to tenants of all ages, but current senior residents will have their subsidized rents maintained until 2027.
