Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced that 33 schools and school districts have been awarded grants to join the Choose Iowa Food Purchasing Program for Schools. This initiative aims to increase the use of locally sourced ingredients in school food services. The pilot program allows each school to apply for up to $1,000 per building, requiring a 1:1 financial match from other sources. The program received applications from 61 schools.
