The operators of an East Dubuque pool announced plans to open the facility next week after community donations led officials to reverse course on plans to keep it closed. Dunleith Aquatic Center aims to open Monday, June 9. In early May, park district officials announced that the pool would not open this summer due to ongoing financial constraints and resource limitations. However, shortly after the planned closure was announced, the East Dubuque Greater Events (EDGE) Foundation pledged to donate $15,000 to the pool if that amount could be matched by community donations. The East Dubuque City Council also voted last month to waive the bulk water fee that the city typically charges Dunleith Park District for the initial filling of the pool each season.
