State health officials said a second measles case has been reported in eastern Iowa. The newest case involves a child who was not vaccinated. The original easter Iowa measles case was a vaccinated adult male. The state has identified three Iowa measles cases in 2025. The first was an unvaccinated adult female in central Iowa. More than 1,160 confirmed measles cases have been reported in the United States during an outbreak that began earlier this year. Prior to this year, Iowa’s most recent confirmed measles cases were reported in 2019, when there were two cases.
