Senator Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green) celebrated the passage of Senate Bill (SB) 182, relating to Emergency Medical Services (EMS) tuition reimbursement, Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) support, and Live 911, by a vote of 18-14 in the Senate on Thursday. The bill contains three provisions to positively impact Wisconsin’s EMS system: Sets the parameters for a tuition reimbursement program which will provide 100% reimbursement for individuals who successfully pass an EMS class at a Wisconsin Technical College System institution and receives a license or certification from the Department of Health Services (DHS). Sets the parameters for additional support to Wisconsin Technical College System to operate EMS training classes. Sets the parameters for a Live 911 Pilot Program to equip counties with software to allow for caller to dispatcher real-time video during 911 calls.
