Iowa DCI released the identities of three law enforcement officers involved in a deadly shooting that killed a Linn County man on July 1. According to a press release from Iowa DCI 36-year-old James Sherrill displayed a handgun during a traffic stop that was part of a multi-jurisdictional investigation near Cascade. Shots were fired, which resulted in a sergeant, and the suspect, being struck by gunfire. Sherill died at the scene. Dubuque County Sheriff’s Sergeant Adam Williams was shot and injured. He was taken to MercyOne Emergency Care in Dubuque, then to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Williams has since been released. Dubuque Police Officer Chad Leitzen and Monticello Police Officer Cole Millard were also involved in the shooting. Iowa DCI says there are not releasing any more information about the shooting at this time.
