Dubuque County Recorder resigned last week

The Dubuque County recorder resigned last week, less than a year after she was elected to the petition. Karol Kennedy resigned effective Thursday and the Board could not share any details about why Kennedy resigned. Kennedy was appointed as recorder in February 2023 following the resignation of former office holder John Murphy. She has worked in the recorder’s office for over three decades. The recorder’s office manages and maintains the county’s records, including birth, death and marriage certificates; property and real estate documents; and recreational vehicle registrations. It also issues hunting and fishing licenses.
