The Wisconsin State Patrol and Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association is teaming up to prevent risky driving behaviors in many cities across the state, including Madison. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced on Monday that the annual Trooper in a Truck campaign will take place from July 14-18. During this campaign, WisDOT said State Patrol troopers will be riding along with semitruck and bus drivers, allowing them a higher vantage point to see risky driving behaviors. When the trooper notices a road violation, they will make a call for authorities to respond. Risky driving behaviors include distracted driving, speeding, following too closely and seatbelt violation. This campaign is a part of the Operation Safe Driver week, which aims at improving driving behaviors of passenger vehicle and commercial vehicle drivers.
