During his return to the stage last week in Greenville, South Carolina, Luke Bryan revealed that a severe bout of COVID-19 has sidelined him for several weeks, impacting his voice and forcing him to cancel multiple shows since mid-June. “Three weeks ago I got COVID,” Bryan announced from the stage, getting some boos from the crowd in response. “You can boo that s–t all you want, but I got it,” the country star continued. “And I had to cancel some shows. And now I’m back. I am not 100 percent because it’s still kicking my a–. When I can sing, I’m gonna sing. When I can’t, y’all are gonna sing, alright?” His illness first affected his performances one month into his Country Song Came On Tour, which began in late May and continues through August. Bryan cancelled a series of headlining shows as well as three festival dates in late June, with Eric Church replacing him on the lineups at the last minute. (Taste of Country)
