On Sunday the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit (Diego) initiated a traffic stop on Highway 18 in the Township of Bridgeport. During the stop, K9 Diego was utilized and alerted to the presence of controlled substances in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 40-year-old Jennifer Kassinger of Elkader, Iowa, and her passenger was identified as 49-year-old Billy Bahls of Elkader, Iowa. Kassinger and Bahls were arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Also, a child was present in the vehicle. The child was removed with the assistance of Crawford County Department of Health and Human Services. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Prairie du Chien Police Department.
