A portion of Kerper Boulevard between East 12th Street and East 16th Street will close next week until July 2027. The closure, which is due to construction on a flood mitigation project, will take effect at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, according to a news release. Traffic will be detoured via U.S. 61/151. Northbound traffic will enter the highway using the on-ramp at the intersection of 11th and Pine Streets and exit at Kerper Boulevard. Southbound traffic will enter at Kerper Boulevard and exit via the off-ramp for the Ninth Street and 11th Street exit, the release states. Those who want to avoid using the highway can use Elm Street and East 16th Street to travel around the closure, but freight and semi-tractor trailer traffic should follow the posted detour due to weight restrictions.
