Governor Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources announced Tuesday that over $282 million has been allocated to 74 Wisconsin municipalities to improve drinking water quality. The funds come from the Safe Drinking Water Loan Program, which provides financial assistance throughout the state for “drinking water infrastructure projects that protect and improve public health for current and future generations,” officials said. Since the project was introduced in 1998, over $1 billion in assistance has been provided to Wisconsin municipalities. Local municipalities receiving funding include Prairie du Chien, Bagley, Shullsburg, Wauzeka, Blue River, Dickeyville, Mineral Point, Boscobel, and Darlington.
