Juvenile that drowned at Chestnut Mountain Resort has been identified

Jo Daviess County officials have identified the juvenile who drowned at Chestnut Mountain Resort in rural Galena on Friday as 17-year-old Jack Zucco of Rochester, IL. The teen lost consciousness while swimming in the pool Friday evening, another juvenile pulled him from the pool. Despite life-saving efforts, Zucco died. The incident remains under investigation.

A juvenile drowned at Chestnut Mountain Resort in rural Galena on Friday. A report from KWQC said Jo Daviess County Dispatch got a 911 call about a possible drowning at Chestnut Mountain Resort around 9 p.m., Friday. When deputies and a Galena police officer arrived,  they learned a juvenile from Rockford had been swimming in the pool when the juvenile appeared to lose consciousness. Another juvenile got them out of the pool before emergency crews got there. Despite life-saving efforts, the juvenile died and was taken to a local hospital. The incident is under investigation.
