Dolly Parton’s final vocal recording will be heard on Torn, a duet with Bono set to close U2’s upcoming album Carnaval De Luz.
Details shared around the album reveal that Parton recorded her vocals in June 2026 while dealing with health issues. Bono said she got out of bed to complete the performance, adding an especially personal weight to the collaboration. The song also involves Snow Patrol musician Johnny McDaid, who helped develop lyrics centered on a mother watching her family come apart.
The collaboration took shape after Bono originally approached Parton about a different project connected to Irish folk music. Parton instead brought Torn into the conversation, leading to the version completed with U2.
