The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection plans to treat 32 sites across 15 western Wisconsin counties for spongy moth, formerly known as gypsy moth, starting in late June. Residents can expect to see and hear loud, low-flying planes as early as sunrise. The treatments are highly effective at reducing the mating success of the moths and is not harmful to humans or animals. Among the 15 counties that will be receiving treatments are Grant, Lafayette, and Vernon counties. Treatments are expected to begin in late June in southwestern Wisconsin and end in mid-July in northwestern Wisconsin.
