Saputo Inc. has announced plans to close their goat cheese plant in Belmont moving production to Reedsburg. The Montreal-based company will spend $35 million (U.S.) to convert its plant in Reedsburg, from mozzzarella to goat cheese production. The Reedburg plant’s mozzarella production will be redistributed to other Saputo facilities. The changes are expected to begin in the second quarter of next year. Approximately 200 impacted employees from the Belmont facility will be provided with financial support including severance.
