The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is looking for whoever drove through a large grassy area at the county’s fairgrounds over the weekend, causing “extensive property damage.” A report says the person or persons tried to enter the race track at the fairgrounds north of Richland Center Saturday night or Sunday morning but found a locked gate. The person or persons then drove through the grass, carving a number of tracks into the ground. The incident is the latest vandalism at the fairgrounds. The sheriff’s department said the track had been damaged twice before and the Kayak Port area was damaged three times. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s department at 608-647-2106.
