Rihanna to perform during Super Bowl LVII halftime show

GLENDALE, Ariz. — The biggest football game of the season is still a few months away, but we now know who will take the stage during the iconic Super Bowl halftime show.

Apple Music, which bought the rights to the halftime show last week, announced Sunday that superstar singer Rihanna would headline the concert. The reveal comes after speculation that Taylor Swift would be the featured act.

Rihanna joins a star-studded list of Super Bowl headliners including Michael Jackson, Prince and Beyoncé. Last year’s star-studded lineup included hip-hop legends Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar.

Bursting onto the scene in the mid-2000s, Rihanna has won nine Grammy Awards and 12 Billboard Music Awards. She had at least one song reach No. 1 on the U.S. charts every year from 2006 to 2012, including hits such as “SOS,” “Umbrella” and “Diamonds.”

The Barbados-born singer has also featured on hit songs with other artists such as Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie” and “Monster,” which both reached No. 1 in the U.S., and Kanye West’s “All of the Lights.”

Super Bowl LVII is scheduled for February 12, 2023, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
