MADISON, Wis. — Columbus has had revenge on their minds all season long, and it showed.
The Cardinals dominated opponents for 13 straight weeks, outscoring them 633-186 this year. But Thursday night was the game — and the opponent — they wanted to play all season long: Catholic Memorial in the Division 4 State Finals.
The Crusaders ended the Cardinals’ season a year ago in the State Semifinals. This year, it was a different story, with Columbus pulling out the upset win, 23-21.
It’s the first state football title for Columbus since 1996.
