Grant County officials say the unemployment rate decreased in Grant County from 2.8% in October to 2.3% in November. However, it will likely go back up again in the coming months as construction slows down in cold weather and seasonal employers in sectors such as retail lay off workers after the holidays. Grant County Economic Development Corp. Executive Director Ron Brisbois says the county typically hits its highest unemployment rate in February.
Elsewhere, there were slight decreases in the unemployment rate in other area counties in November. Crawford County, down to 3.0%, Iowa County down to 2.1%, Lafayette County down to 2.2%, Jo Daviess County down to 3.3%, and Dubuque County down to 2.8%
