The Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a two vehicle head-on crash on Highway 81 east of County Road Y in the Township of Cassville Thursday around 3pm. After an investigation, it was found that 41 year old Bradley Fure of Cassville, was traveling west on Highway 81 and fell asleep. Fure’s vehicle crossed the centerline into the eastbound lane. 19 year old Rylee Wagner of Lancaster, was eastbound on Highway 81. Fure’s vehicle entered the path of Wagner. Wagner swerved to the right to attempt to avoid a collision, but the vehicles collided at the front driver’s side corners. Wagner’s vehicle entered the ditch on the north side of the road and came to a rest. Fure’s vehicle continued through the ditch until eventually coming to a rest down an embankment. Airbags deployed in both vehicles and both drivers were wearing seatbelts. Fure had minor injuries and Wagner was uninjured. Both vehicles had extensive damage and were towed from the scene. Fure was cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance and Operating Left of Center. The Cassville Fire Department, Cassville EMS, the Cassville Police Department, the Grant County Highway Department, and B&M Towing assisted at the scene.
