Emergency crews rescued a 74-year-old man who was trapped in a grain bin for two hours on Friday morning. According to Jami Boss, Deputy Director of Lafayette County EMS, crews were called to a residence on the outskirts of Darlington at 11:15 a.m. for the rescue operation. The Darlington Fire Department, Lafayette County EMS, Iowa County Technical Rescue, and Grant County Technical Rescue all worked together to free the man. Additionally, Med Flight from Madison was called in to assist. After two hours, the man was successfully rescued from the grain bin and he was conscious and alert. Boss says the man did not need to be transported to the hospital by medical flight, but he was taken to Platteville Southwest Hospital by Lafayette County EMS and Med Flight staff.
