A district attorney has been appointed to serve as a judge in Crawford County Circuit Court. Prairie du Chien resident Lukas Steiner was appointed by Gov. Tony Evers. He will replace retiring Judge Lynn Rider, completing a term ending July 31, 2025. Steiner has served as Crawford County district attorney since January 2020. Prior to that role, he primarily practiced criminal defense and family law. Evers is seeking applicants to fill Steiner’s district attorney role. The new district attorney will serve the remainder of the unexpired term that ends in January 2025. Applications are due at 5 p.m. Aug. 12. More information is available at evers.wi.gov.
