After five years of connecting area farmers and producers to customers via its online platform, Jo Daviess Local Foods has purchased property for a fixed, physical location just outside of Elizabeth. To date, Jo Daviess Local Foods has functioned as a kind of digital farmers market: customers can view available produce, meat or other products, then select the quantity they want and make an online purchase. The products come from many different producers who are listed under the items they have available. Like in a physical farmers market, all of the producers are available in one “place.” JDLF members will then put orders together during the week, before distributing them to customers’ choice of Tuesday pickup locations all over northwest Illinois.
