Mineral Point man charged with sexual assault

A Mineral Point man is charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child under the age of 16 while using or threatening force or violence. According to court records, charges were filed against 47-year-old Shaun Jaco of Mineral Point on July 31. The criminal complaint states a 15-year-old girl and her family were staying with Jaco at his Mineral Point home overnight on July 25. In the early morning hours of July 26, Jaco assaulted the girl in his basement, choked, and threatened her. Jaco is also charged with strangulation/suffocation and false imprisonment. He pleaded not guilty on Tuesday, Aug. 13. Court records show he is due back in court in October. Jaco is in jail on a $300,000 cash bond.
