The Platteville Dairy Days Committee has announced the Parade Marshall for the 77th Platteville Dairy Days Parade taking place on Saturday, September 7th. Each year the group tries to recognize a person, family, or group that has played a significant role in building the quality of life for the Platteville community regarding agriculture in general or has been instrumental in the growth of the Dairy Days event. Pete Durni, who passed away in March of this year, will be recognized posthumously as the Parade Marshall. Pete’s daughter, Bailey will represent Pete in the parade. Pete was involved in Platteville Dairy Days since the mid-1990’s. He got involved by working as a volunteer Jaycee and before long was Chair of the beer stand. Pete was vital to the the ordering, scheduling, and set up of the beer stand. He became the main component to the success of the beverage efforts that took place at Legion Field for the Dairy Days events.
