Authorities say a motorcyclist was airlifted following a crash in Jo Daviess County. 30 year old Matthew Steele of Galena, was airlifted to Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford for treatment of his injuries. According to the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, Steele was operating a motorcycle north on South Blanding Road just north of West Diggin Hill Road at approximately 6:55 p.m. Saturday when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road. Steele and the motorcycle entered a ditch on the west side of the roadway. The motorcycle landed on Steele. Steele faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating a vehicle with expired registration. Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
