Monday evening [September 2] Platteville Police were alerted that two members of the public had located what they believed to be human remains, in a heavily wooded area of the city. Officers responded and located an unidentified, deceased subject. Officers secured the area and requested assistance from the Wisconsin Department of Forensic Sciences, Crime Scene Response Unit (CSRU) to assist Platteville Police Officers with processing the scene and recovering the human remains. The Platteville Police Department is seeking to positively identify the individual and are continuing to investigate the circumstances of their death.
