The Vernon County Sherrif’s Office reports a single-vehicle crash that occurred around 12 a.m. Sunday morning in the town of Hillsboro. A 17-year-old male was operating a Ford F-250 pickup traveling on County Road WW when he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway and struck an embankment before rolling several times and coming to a stop. According to a report, the 16-year-old passenger was ejected from the vehicle and was later pronounced dead at Gunderson St. Joseph’s hospital. The driver of the vehicle was also taken to Gunderson Saint Joseph before being flown to the University of Wisconsin Hospital by UW Health Med Flight. The incident remains under investigation by Vernon County Sheriff’s Office and the Vernon County Coroner’s Office.
