The Orchard Manor in Lancaster will reduce its licensed beds from 99 to 74, administrators announced Friday. Residents currently living at the nursing facility will not be affected. Reasons given for this decision include ongoing problems with staffing in the healthcare industry, a financial burden of each bed costing $170 per month, and seniors preferring private rooms in long-term care. Administrators said they will work with state officials to complete the change and comply with regulatory requirements.
