Mel Brooks, who directed the original Spaceballs in 1987, will be returning as Yogurt in the upcoming sequel led by Josh Gad and directed by Josh Greenbaum. Amazon MGM Studios has set a theatrical release date for 2027. Bill Pullman and Rick Moranis are also reportedly set to reprise their respective roles as Lone Starr and Dark Helmet. That’s big news, as the semi-retired Moranis hasn’t been seen on the big screen in decades. The movie is described as a “Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part Two but with Reboot Elements Franchise Expansion Film.” Brooks, an EGOT winner, is renowned for his comedic classics like Young Frankenstein, The Producers and Blazing Saddles.
