Two people from northwest Illinois had to be taken to the hospital for injuries their received in a UTV crash on Saturday night. Authorities say that 28-year-old Richard Kent of Warren was driving a four-seat utility vehicle in rural Warren around 10:30pm. A Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s report says Kent lost control of the vehicle on a curve. That caused the UTV to leave the road, go about 30 yards into a field and then overturn. One of the two passengers that suffered injured was 23-year-old Travis Near of Warren. He had to be airlifted to a Rockford hospital. Another passenger, 30-year-old Nicole Deyo of Apple River, was taken to a local hospital in Darlington. Officials said neither Kent nor a third passenger had any injuries. Kent was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, operating an ATV/UTV on a roadway illegally and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
