Here’s what to expect this week on the Highway 23 construction project in Lafayette County on Main Street in downtown Darlington. Crews will continue installing water main, sanitary sewer and storm sewer at the River Street intersection. Highway 23 flagging will be from 8am-7pm all week as necessary, so expect delays. County highway F / West River Street will be closed at Highway 23 starting Monday, April 19th thru Friday, May 7th – emergency vehicle access only will be allowed. East River Street will remain closed thru Friday, May 7th. Pipe crews will continue water main installation on the Main Street Bridge to Louisa Street. Alice Street will remain closed on the east side of Main Street. Access to Casey’s General Store will remain open on Alice Street, just east of the barricades. Ann Street will remain closed on the east side of Main Street. Water service replacements likely to start late in the week for properties on the east side of Main Street from the Bridge to Ann Street. 48 hour notification will be given to property owners for planned water outages. On Louisa Street to Harriet Street, crews may start removing pavement, especially if there is a rain day and they can’t work on water & sewer
