McIntosh, who took over for his former coach Barry Alvarez as Wisconsin’s athletic director last year, says he is proud of making it onto the ballot.
“It’s humbling to see the list and read about the accomplishments of my fellow nominees. My inclusion on this ballot is a testament to the great coaches and teammates I had during my career. Without them and the success we achieved together, this would not be possible,” McIntosh said in a statement from the university.
McIntosh was a first-team All-American during his senior year in 1999, also earning Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year honors and was an Outland Trophy finalist as one of the best offensive linemen in the country. He was a first-round draft pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2000, appearing in 24 games before injuries forced an early retirement from pro football.
This will be Vincent’s seventh time on the College Football Hall of Fame ballot. He was a runner-up for the Thorpe Award as the nation’s best defensive back in 1991, and was named the Big Ten’s Co-Defensive Player of the Year that season.
Vincent was also a first-round pick in the NFL Draft, getting picked by the Miami Dolphins in 1992. He went on to have a very successful pro career, playing in 15 seasons and earning 5 Pro Bowl selections. He as also named the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year in 2002 and is a member of the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame. He is currently the NFL’s Executive Vice President of Football Operations.
“As a Wisconsin alumnus, it’s an honor to be a nominee for the College Football Hall of Fame,” Vincent said in a statement. “This comes with great appreciation and gratitude to be considered among these extraordinary candidates and to be a representative of Badger Nation on the ballot.”
McIntosh and Vincent are two of 80 players and nine coaches from the Football Bowl Subdivision on this year’s ballot. In order to be eligible, a player has to have received first-team All-America honors during their playing career.
The ballot will be voted on by more than 12,000 people. The announcement of the 2023 College Football Hall of Fame class will be made in early 2023.
There are 15 Badgers already in the College Football Hall of Fame, with the most recent inductee being offensive lineman Joe Thomas in 2019.
